Memorial Day

Today we celebrate and honor those who serve our country.

While watching a Memorial Day special...."Daddy, why do we have wars?"

Weekend in Nashville, TN

We had to go to Nashville, TN for the weekend:

• "Do we get to ride in a plane to get there?"
• "Is there pretty beaches in Nashville?"
• Getting into the car..."Mom, you should hit the "trip button" (on your car) cause we are taking a trip."
• "When we see people wearing sun glasses, how can you tell if they are really sunglasses or if they are blind people glasses?"
• Eating dinner at a fancy steak restaurant...."I wish we could have just eaten at Sonic, I'm tired of using manners!"
• "What do you mean we can't listen to froggy 104 (local country radio station) in this town, I thought you said we were in the capital of country music!"
• "I think I'm gonna be a one of those car finder people when I get bigger...people just hand them money for finding their cars for them."   -- Translation...he was amused with valet parking.
• "Hotel friends are fun to play with at the pool."
• "I like using credit cards for keys."

24 hr drive through

While going through a drive through...son was reading signs...notices the sign "24 hour drive through"...
"Mom, I'm so glad you don't work there!"
"Why is that?"
"Don't you know what 24 hr drive through menas?!  It means they NEVER stop working so they NEVER get a day off!"

Surprise 50th Birthday!

Today is my husband's 50th birthday!  A couple of weeks ago we had a surprise birthday party!  My son was so excited:

• "Daddy, I always wondered what you'd look like when you were 50!"
• "Mom, when it's my birthday, I want you to give me a SURPRISE party!  They are so much fun!"
• "I can't believe you didn't tell me we were having daddy a party!"

No money...

"The only people on earth that don't have money is babies."

How long is your foot?

"If you didn't have any toes, my foot would be longer than yours!"

Hawaii

"Hey mom!  Have we ever been to Hawaii?"
"No, but I'd love to go there one day."
"Me too!  I've always wanted to drink milk from a coconut!"

Surgery

This past Friday, I had out patient surgery...I'll be down for the next couple of weeks so my son is trying to adjust to my inability to do certain things, however, he's had a few questions since Friday...

• "Daddy said they gave you gas to put you to sleep for your surgery."  "Yes, son that's correct."  "What kind of gas did they give you?"  "Huh?  What do you mean?"  "Well, did you get laughing gas or did they give you pooting gas?"
• "Can we go outside today and throw frisbe?  No, I don't think I'm up to it today.  Well, I'll be glad when you can go outside, I bet you've almost forgot what it looks like!"
• "I sure do love you!  I'll be glad when I can hug you around your belly again!"

Awards Day

Today was Awards Day at school.  Today's Awards include:

• Running a Mile Award
• Jump Rope Award
• Honor Roll
• Most Ambitious Award

"Son, do you know what "most ambitious" means?"

"Well, I think it probably means I was the rowdiest in the class"

His teacher summed up the year:

"There has never been a dull moment with you around!"

"You have kept a smile on my face this year!  I loved having you in my class!"

We were blessed to have such a WONDERFUL teacher this year!

3rd grade here we come!

Sleep outside

"Son,  you have this whole house stinking!  I think you need to sleep outside tonight!"
"Mom, I can't help it!  I just like to toot!"

How many bananas?

School is winding down...tomorrow is a special day...kids get to make bananna splits and have an end of school party...my son volunteered us to bring bananas... I asked "How many do we need to bring?"  He said, "Oh, I don't know, why don't you just buy a PACK of them?!"

Sr. Adult Day (at church)

Today, we honored the Senior Adults at our church.  The entire service was centered around the Seniors and how they have mentored so many people, led many people to Christ, etc.  At one point during the service, our pastor was telling a joke about getting old (losing hearing, eyes not seeing as good, grey hair, different body parts failing, etc.)  Son was listening...leaned over and said in a whispering voice..."Is he for real?  Does all that really happen to old people?  I sure am glad I'm just a kid!"

Game Ball

Today, during "all-day ball", my son won the game ball.  He exclaimed, "I've waited my WHOLE LIFE to win this."

Blind Ump!

During baseball game...son hit the ball...running to first base...one ump called him safe...the main ump called him out...he really was safe...and son knew he was safe...walked off the field...shaking his head in disbelief...

"Daddy, I think you need to make that ump some new glasses!"

....son's dad makes eye glasses for a living....we think we could help the ump out!  :)
