Christmas - Day 18 - Santa Calls

Tonight while eating dinner, son did not want to eat everything on his plate...all of a sudden our house phone rung (which never happens)...it was SANTA CLAUSE!  He wanted to speak to my son.  Son told him he didn't like to eat the chicken in chicken and dumplins.  Santa told him to eat the chicken...that's the best part!  Son said "Yes sir, I will"    We've made a picture of him eating everything in his plate and will be forwarding it to Santa cause we're hoping we're not on the naughty list.

After the call.....son is FULL OF EXCITEMENT!

"Santa said he'd see me on Christmas Eve and to BE GOOD!"

"Santa wants us to fix him chicken and dumplins on Christmas Eve.  He said he gets plenty of milk and cookies."

"Can we leave Santa a gift?"
"What kind of gift did you have in mind, son?"
"Well, I'm not sure but maybe we could get him a new red hat!"

"Mom, I looked at caller ID and it said wireless....do you think Santa has an Iphone?"

"Oh, dang....I should've asked him if I was on the good list or the naughty list before he hung up...maybe he'll call back before Christmas."

Christmas - Day 14 - Santa's Workshop

My sons teacher at school is a strict disciplinarian...each week the kids are given "3 scoops" (ice cream)...The goal is to still have all your scoops by the end of the week.  If you misbehave, she will remove a scoop.  This means you don't get any ice cream on Friday if you loose all 3 scoops that week.  This week, of course, is the week before Christmas.  My child is WILD WITH EXCITEMENT...This week, by Wednesday, he had lost all his scoops....Also, this week the school has "Santa's Workshop" where the kids can go and shop for their family.  I had sent money with him on Wednesday to school and he picked gifts for me, his dad, his sister and his grandparents.  He was soooo proud of everything...As I said earlier, he lost all his scoops by Wednesday and we have a rule at our house that if he looses all 3 scoops at school, when he gets home, he gets 3 licks with a paddle...He knows the rules...As his dad prepared to spank him, he said, "But daddy...I bought you a gift today!"

"Aww, that's so sweet of you, but that's YOUR gift.  Remember, you got this yesterday at a Christmas Party."

...I finally realized that Miss Jennifer told him they were singing "a latin" song...

Company Picnic

Today was my company picnic.  It's at a local "family friendly" business.  The kids can ride go carts, bumper cars, bowling, skating, laser tag, mini golf, and play video games.  It's always alot of fun for everyone!  At the end of the day, they draw for door prizes.  My son does not want to "sit around" for an hour to see if we'll win anything so this year I allowed him to go in and play video games WITHOUT me around.  My company had given each employee tokens to play video games so he had plenty of tokens...BIG MISTAKE....I was not aware that he had taken his wallet with him...After the drawing was over I went in and found him putting tokens into a game...he had WAY more "tickets" from the video games than my tokens would allow...
I asked, "where did you get all these tokens?"..
He said, "Oh mom, when you put twenty into that machine over there, it gives you a bunch of tokens!  Just look at all I've got!!
I said, "When you put twenty what?  What have you done?"
"Mom, I have my money!  I put a $20 into that machine and it gave me a bunch of tokens!  When you put a $5 in, it only gives you about 10 tokens but when you put in $20 you can just play and play! (said VERY PROUDLY with a big happy grin)

We are now the proud owners of a whoopie cushion, a squishy ball, and a rotating Disco ball.  He thought for $30, he got a great deal!

Parent Teacher Conference

Before attending tonight's parent-teacher conference, I asked my son, "What do you think your teacher is going to tell me about you?"

Disney Vacation - Part 2

Part 2 of our vacation

Walking through Magic Kingdom, we saw a woman in a black/white pin-stripped dress, with 4-inch spike heals and several bracelets on her wrist....son says, "Mom, I don't think that woman has ever been to an amusement park before!"

We were about to ride Aerosmith's Rockin' Roller Coaster and son was reading the warning signs.  He read..."Women should not ride" and got upset because he thought I would not be able to ride with him....he missed the first word in the warning..."Expectant"

After riding Aerosmith's Rockin'Roller Coaster..."Mom, I don't think I'll ever be the same!"

After riding Aerosmith's Rockin Roller Coaster for the 3rd time..."Man, I never want to leave this place!"

After riding Tower of Terror..."Whew!  I think I'm awake now!"

At Fantasmic, they were selling "mohawk light-up hair"...."Mom, can I get a light-up hair cut?"

My son participated in a show we attended where, Crush, the turtle from Nemo, talked to all the kids.  After the show, son says "Can you believe no one asked for my autograph after my performance?"

"If anybody pooted in here, nobody would know who did it."

Going through the haunted mansion..."Is that real dust or fake dust?"

As we enter Animal Kingdom..."I bet we have a wild time here!"

One of the games Disney likes for kids to do is to find "Mickey ears" through out the park....son thought that was boring...He enjoyed looking for speakers that they hid in the flowers through out the parks.

"I thought Disney was a kid place...can you believe they sell Bud Light in here!"

Going through a vegetation exhibit at Epcot...they explained how they grow plants in sand and/or water...."My dad should try that...he grows everything in dirt!"

"Mom, what country is Disney in?
"Son, It's in the United States."
"No for real...what country is Disney in?
"I told you the US!"
"Well ok but nobody here speaks English!"

"I didn't know so many countries could be in one place!"
Translation - Disney is very diverse and people from all over the country come to visit.

"These people say words that are not even words."
Translation - I can't understand what anyone is saying.

By the end of the week, we met a family from our home state of TN.
"Mom, they are some country people!"

By the end of the week, he wanted to talk "jibberish" and wanted me to guess what language he was speaking.   (No disrespect was meant....he was just fascinated by the sounds/words he had heard all week.)

At our resort, we saw a couple of midgets.  He said, "Did you know that midgets were really adults that are just short  people?  (He wanted to make sure I was in the know.)

While at Animal Kingdon, we went to "Africa" and watched men play drums and dance.
He said, "I think I might be a dancer when I grow up...I got the groove and the moves!"
"Mom, I've never seen anyone that OLD dance like that!  He's really good!"

Going on a safari at Animal Kingdom he says, "I think that elephant is real cause it kept blinking its eyes but the snakes were fake cause I could tell they were plastic."

Going through Haunted House at Magic Kingdom he says, "Is that fake dust or real dust?"
.
When we rode the Tower of Terror at Universal Studios, Santa rode with us.  We think he was the "real" Santa but he had lost alot of weight so we're not sure.

After 12 hours at Magic Kingdom..."Mom, I think I'm too tired to swim tonight!"

Watching the monkey's at Animal Kingdom...."I wish I was a monkey!  All they have to do is play or sleep!

By Friday he said...."Will you PLEASE rent a stroller for me!  I'm soooo tired of walking!"

Arriving at airport on Saturday morning to go home:  "Mom, can we fastpass through security?"

"I sure have had fun this week.  I wish Disney was closer to our house so we could go any time we wanted to."

Disney Vacation - Part 1

Airplane Ride...

"What if it rains when we're in the plane....(thinks to himself for a moment)...well I guess we'll just be high in dry!"

"Son, are you excited about your first plane ride?"  With a big 'ole grin...YES!!

"What are clouds made of?  Some look like cotton and sometimes is looks like snow. "
"If we jumped out of this plane could we jump on the clouds?"

"Look at that (on the plane)....it looks like a tube of lipstick!"

"When we're this high all the houses look alike....nobody's house looks bigger than their neighbors..."

Son was somewhat nervous about plane ride.  One our way to Orlando, we sat by a TNA wrestler.  He was a super nice guy and once he realized that my son was a huge wrestling fan invited us to Universal Studios for one of the tapings during our stay.  Talking about "making dreams come true" for one 9 yr old fellow....all smiles...

Meeting Characters

Goofy - "Is that really your first name?"

Tiger - He was soooo excited and nervous about meeting Tiger...when Tiger walked over, Clay got up to have his pic taken with him...when he stood up, he knocked over his drink and food and water went everywhere....No one seemed to care...we took pic and moved on...

Cinderella - "I hope she makes it home by mid-night!"

Minnie Mouse - "She sure does have some big feet!"

Pop Century Resort

"Mom, look at these little garbage cans they put in our room!"

"I just want to ride the elevators so I can push the buttons!"

"I wish I had a chair like this in my room at home!"

"I'm soooo excited about my birthday!  I think I could talk about it forever!"

"You member when you asked me if I felt like I was 9 and I said not really....well since I got a phone I feel like I'm 10!'

At 6:30 am this morning while getting the kids ready for school....

"Mom, I NEED a white shirt to wear to school today!"  (I had already ironed his 'Friday school shirt')
"No son, you can wear your school shirt today because it's Friday."
"No, I have to have a white shirt today cause I'm in a play today."
"What?!  What play?
"Yeah, I have to be 'snow' so I have to wear white."
"So, do you have any lines?"
"Yeah, I say, "When the sun shines on me I melt away and here it comes!"

...I ironed the white shirt for him...

"Not bad, mom. We're still listening to the songs and I think we're going to start picking parks in a couple of weeks."
"Are you doing a solo this year?"
"No, I don't think so.  There are a couple of talking parts and I think I need to be a "talker" rather than a "singer"....I'm a whole lot better at talking!"

"Guess what mom!  My teacher said she is going to help me be good this year!  She move my desk kind of away from 'my group' so now I won't be tempted to talk as much!  I sure do like her!"

Waking up early to go to school..."I couldn't go to sleep last night cause my eyes wouldn't stay closed."
"I think I only got to sleep about an hour last night!"

"I'm so glad to go back to school so we can get out of this house!"

"My teacher said she don't yell at her students...Mom, I think you could learn something from her!"

"My teacher said if we're good all week, we get to have ice cream on Friday and if we're bad we don't get any ice creamn and we have to write off when our class goes outside.  You better believe I'm gonna try my VERY BEST everyday and be good this year!"

"My teacher said we're going to have a science fair this year.  We have to make a project and then tell about it and we're probably even gonna be on TV!!  I'm kind of scared about that...hope I do good!

"I think my teacher is gonna be sooooo good this year!  I can't wait to go back Monday!"
